Jed Madela owes much of career to Regine Velasquez’s former manager
Jed Madela recounted how he was scouted by his idol Regine Velasquez’s former manager Ronnie Henares, and how much he learned from him.
Madela said his meeting with Henares was a complete stroke of luck. Henares happened to be the manager of a bar that Madela once visited. The singer was called up on stage to jam, and Henares heard him sing, reports Push.
Afterwards, Henares introduced himself to a shocked Madela and asked if he already had a manager. At the time, Madela was being managed by his aunt. Coincidentally, Madela and his aunt previously discussed about tracking down Henares. As fate would have it, they didn’t need to look very far.
“I’m going to make you my ‘male Regine,’” said Henares to Madela.
Their partnership lasted for three to four years during which Madela learned the tricks of the trade such as how to dress, how to talk, how to stand and how to project oneself. The mentorship came from the efforts of both Henares and his wife, Ida. At the same time, Madela’s career was co-managed by Henares and Madela’s aunt.
