Jed Madela is OK with not being a hit, as long as he can sing his own songs

Jed Madela is not bothered if he is not a huge hit nor super popular, as long as he can sing his own songs.

The singer-songwriter defended himself from a netizen who said he is not a hit with people. This happened via a Twitter exchange on Sunday, Sept. 23.

A netizen named Jun Salameda (@jun_salameda) expressed his opinion that although Madela is a great vocalist, he wonders why Madela “can’t be a hit.”  “Answer: music lovers can’t sing along with him,” the netizen stated. “I also don’t listen to most of his songs that sound like diva-ish.”

Madela then replied to the netizen, taking note of the feedback: “Thank you for this critique.. but I dont see anything wrong if I CAN sing my own songs.”

As for the remark that music lovers cannot sing along with him, Madela replied, “Real music lovers do not have to sing along. They can just listen and be fine about it.”

Some netizens also defended the singer, such as one RJ Tenchavez (@rJtenchavez), who said, “Hello? Jed Madela is Jed Madela. One of the few singers who I can say can [blow] the listeners away.”

Another commenter, ash RM (@iloveastrid), echoed Madela’s opinion about “real music lovers”: “Music lovers does not need to sing, we just listen and support.”

One Jon Chester De Leon (@annyeonghasey0o) said that Madela has his own way of expressing songs, which for him is a strong point for a Filipino singer. He praised Madela’s vocal skills: “His high notes were [pristine], his agility is remarkable.”

Madela has proven himself a force to be reckoned with in the local music scene. Aside from wowing audiences with his powerful voice, Madela is the first Filipino to win the World Championships of Performing Arts title in Hollywood, California in 2005. JB
