Zayn Malik says he formed no friendship with any of co-members in One Direction
One Direction fans who nurse hopes for the group’s reunion will have to continue keeping their expectations in check.
Zayn Malik, who left the boy band in 2015, went on record in British Vogue’s December issue as saying that he didn’t form any friendship with members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.
He said their rise to fame “from theaters, to arenas, to stadiums” had different effects on the then-teenage boys.
“People take it different ways – especially when there are five different personalities. The relationships had broken apart,” he said.
While the group was portrayed as buddies during their time together, Malik said he had “always [been] a bit of an island. I don’t like to confer with too many people.”

Malik has been candid about his relationship with the former band. In September last year, he told Us Weekly that he and Styles hardly spoke to each other.
It was a far cry from his statement when he bid the group goodbye: “I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
Malik has since charted his own path with singles including “PILLOWTALK,” “Let Me” and “Dusk Till Dawn.” Niña V. Guno /ra
