Lucy Torres showed her soft spot for her father, Manuel or “Manoling,” as he turned a year older last Oct. 28.
The actress turned politician penned a heartfelt letter via Instagram for her dad, who she considers her “first Superman.” She shared her message with a throwback photo of her and Manoling on her wedding day.
Torres then recalled a touching moment from her big day: “Daddy walked me down the aisle and while the orchestra played ‘Waiting for the Day’ he started sobbing beside me.”
She also recalled another moment, when he accompanied her to the airport as she was moving to Manila to be with her husband, Richard Gomez.
“As we sat in the car, Daddy took my hand,” she wrote. “I fought back my tears but they fell like waterfalls in a slow steady stream down my face.”
To comfort his daughter, Manoling gave Torres a white handkerchief to wipe the tears off her face. Torres added that she still keeps that memento as “a gentle reminder of that tender moment between Daddy and I.”
And despite Manoling being “almost 80” years old, Torres said he “does not look it.”
“He enjoys good health and plays golf regularly, his hair is still thick and mostly black (he has never dyed it!),” she added.
She also described her “first Superman” as “strong, dependable, thoughtful, consistent, loving, sweet,” and revealed that she still receives little gifts from him, such as her favorite fruits, pens and chocolates.
Before being the wife of Gomez and settling in Manila, Torres used to reside in Ormoc with her parents, who are known to own several hectares of land in the area. Torres is now the 4th District Representative of Leyte, which includes Ormoc. JB
