Rachel Bloom in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”

Actress-singer Rachel Bloom, who was recently featured in Allure’s digital cover story, told the fashion website that the interview happened at a point when doing the musical series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” can be especially overwhelming.

“You’re catching me at the craziest moment of the [season] when I start to really crumble,” Bloom said, referring to the show’s fourth and final season. “There’s always a point midseason that I have more work, where it feels like an unsustainable amount of work, usually around Episode 6 or 7. That literally just happened, and now I’ve gone over that hump.”

Asked if she thrived while being exceptionally busy, she agreed: “I talked to my therapist about this—I think I have slight touches of ADHD … I like thinking about a lot of things at once but, at a certain point, that actually gets to be too much and I overheat myself. And that’s when I crumble.”

Taking a real break can be difficult, as well. “It’s weird … talking about things in the show, like self-care and pursuing your own happiness, but I literally don’t have the time to do that because we’re a network show,” said Bloom, 31. “[I’m] involved with the writing, shooting, and editing and [performing] songs—simultaneously.”

The last season of the series, which discusses topics like mental illness and unhealthy relationships, will run for 18 episodes. —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
