Rayver open to kissing Jason

“I wouldn’t think twice!” quipped Rayver Cruz when asked if he was open to doing a kissing scene with his close friend and “Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko” costar Jason Abalos, who plays a trans woman in the upcoming soap.

“Sa sobrang sweet namin ni Jason, kulang na lang eh mag-kiss kami,” Rayver said, drawing laughter from the crowd at a recent press con for the afternoon series, which will air on GMA 7 starting Oct. 22.

“It would have been easy if that happened,” he added.

However, Rayver’s character, Gavin, only comes in and gets to meet Nathan/Venus (Jason) when the latter has already fully transitioned, this time played by Thea Tolentino. “I’m sad because we didn’t have sweet scenes,” he jested. “Sayang!”

Also in the cast is Lotlot de Leon—the mother of Janine Gutierrez, whom the 29-year-old actor is currently dating. How does he feel about this?

“I’m happy to be working with her again. I haven’t done so since I was a kid,” he pointed out. “I’m close to her, so I know that I will be comfortable with her on the set. Doing scenes with her would probably be nerve-wracking, but I’m sure she wouldn’t mind guiding me.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
