Korina Sanchez bets on lotto for the first time, loses
Korina Sanchez, for the first time in her 53 years of existence, tried her luck in the Philippine lotto. Unfortunately, she did not succeed in taking home the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) record-high P850 million jackpot for the Ultra Lotto 6/58.
“Huhuhuhuhu… Hindi ako nanalo! (I did not win!)” lamented Sanchez on a Facebook post today, Oct.3. She uploaded a photo of her hand holding ticking forms for 6/42 and Super 6/49 lotto, and wrote, “First time ako tumaya sa lotto (It was my first time trying out lotto)….P800M? Why not? Pero sinamampalad (But I was unlucky).

But it seems her loss did not discourage her from betting in the future, going as far as to pose a challenge to her fans and followers: “Anyway, Tataya ako ulit! Failure is not an option! Tell me what my next numbers should be..and huway? Pag nanalo ako… promise… hati tayo!”
(Anyway, I will bet again! Failure is not an option! Tell me what my next numbers should be, and why? If I win, promise, I’ll share the jackpot with you!)

(Even if you have the right numbers, you still won’t win because the lotto which has the jackpot prize of P800 million is the draw for 6/58, not 6/42 and 6/49).
Another netizen quipped a possible reason why Sanchez did not win, focusing on the clean ticking forms Sanchez posted.
“Mam Korina paano po kayo mananalo eh hindi nyo naman ginuhitan yung card mo na yan?” asked one commenter, Arevir Olegna.
(Ma’am Korina, how are you going to win when you did not tick the numbers on the card?)
But Sanchez, like other hopefuls, may indeed still have a chance: no one got the right combination to yesterday’s Ultra Lotto 6/58 draw for P849,578,320. The next draw will be held on Friday, Oct. 5. JB
