Singers have to take care of their voices — they make a living out of using their vocal cords, after all. In the case of Morissette Amon, she is once again advised to go on a strict vocal rest, which forced her to cancel an upcoming show in Capiz in the process.

Amon made it clear through her Twitter page, though, that she was not hospitalized, contrary to what the event organizer supposedly announced. She said she was advised by her doctor to go on a strict vocal rest.

“Just wanted to clarify to those who may have read from another certain post that I was not rushed to the hospital but was just [advised] by my doctor to go on strict vocal rest,” wrote Amon last Sunday, Sept. 30. She then apologized to those who bought tickets to her show with Sam Mangubat.

She retweeted a post stating the reason, albeit vague, why they had to cancel the show: “Stages and RankOne announces with deep regret that Capizikat’s ‘OUR JAM’ featuring Morissette and Sam Mangubat will have to be moved to Nov. 3, 2018 due to a fortuitous event following Morisette’s recent vocal health condition.”

Amon’s post was made after the show’s organizer, Capizikat, announced via Facebook that she was hospitalized. Capizikat said the reason the show did not push through was Amon being “currently in the hospital” and “needs urgent medical attention.”

This is not the first time Amon was advised by a doctor to rest her voice. In August, the singer lost her voice ten minutes before the start of her successful “Morissette Is Made” concert in Dubai. She had to take medicines while being on a strict vocal rest period. JB
