An interactive, choose-your-own-adventure episode of the science fiction anthology “Black Mirror” may stream before the year ends.

Fans of the show who were shaken by the likeness of its episodes to real world trends may get a chance to choose a happy ending for a change. Netflix, which previously adapted the interactive platform to kids’ shows, may be trying to do the same for the fifth season of “Black Mirror” in December, reports Bloomberg.

Should the project push through, the interactive “Black Mirror” episode will be the first adult-oriented show to feature the concept. The streaming service previously experimented the 2017 animated film “Puss in Book.”

Given “Black Mirror’s” more mature ideas, the branching story lines for the pilot episode may also be more complex than “Puss in Book.” For example, an interactive version of the the infamous episode “Nosedive” could have viewers choose how Lacie used the rating system and reach the 4.5 rating she craved for. However, this would mean she may miss out on the profound realization she had at the end of the original ending.

The concept of choosing a different narrative route is also influenced by video games where a player’s choices could lead to different conclusions in the story, and therefore provide a different experience each time.

Meanwhile, a rival service from HBO already released its own interactive show earlier this year on Jan. 22. “Mosaic” starred Sharon Stone and was directed by Oscar and Emmy winner Steven Soderbergh. It was made available on a separate app and featured six episodes. Alfred Bayle /ra
