WATCH: Marlo Mortel serenades cancer-stricken mother with Morissette Amon

Nothing is more heartbreaking for anyone than seeing their own mother suffering. Which is why actor and singer Marlo Mortel made use of his talent to make his mother Merlie Pamintuan, who is battling breast cancer, smile.
“I hope this cheered you up mommy,” wrote Mortel in a post he shared via Instagram yesterday, Aug. 22. He uploaded a video of him and singer Morissette Amon serenading his mother with the hit pop song “Way Back into Love”.
“Thanks for your time and your gift @itsmorissette. We won’t lose hope,” Mortel said.

In one of his Instagram Stories, Amon was seen singing the Carpenter’s song “You”. Amon sang for Mortel’s mother despite needing “strict voice rest and meds,” after losing her voice in a recent sold-out concert in Dubai.

Amon and Mortel have been romantically linked since 2016 after he asked Amon to be his date for the 2016 Star Magic Ball. Mortel said in an interview with Boy Abunda on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” in October last year that the possible reason why they aren’t in a relationship was that the timing for them to get together is not perfect. He also said that his priority is his sick mother.
In his other Instagram Stories, Mortel shared a photo of his mother, as well as a prayer for her successful recovery.

Mortel asked fans to pray for his mother, who is in critical condition, in a series of Tweets he posted on Tuesday, Aug. 21: “Please pray for my mom. We’re losing her now. Lord please don’t take her away from us. Please Lord work your miracle on my mom I know she can survive this!”

Fellow celebrities including Maris Racal, Jane Oineza, Hero Angeles and Jeremy Glinoga expressed their support for Mortel’s family.
In another Tweet he posted yesterday, Mortel uploaded a photo of him holding his mother’s hands.
