K-pop group Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) has been making headlines everywhere they go. In their recent guesting at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, the seven members of the group — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — took on and aced the popular “Fortnite” dance challenge.
BTS’ speech about self-love, encouraging the youth to “speak themselves,” warmed the hearts of the audience at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, Sept. 24. Just when fans thought the K-pop group won’t be making any more news while in New York, the seven went and grooved to the “emotes” or dance moves one’s “Fortnite” character can perform in “Fortnite Battle Royale”.
Fallon, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook showed off how the popular dance challenge should be done, in a video which the show’s segment aired last Tuesday, Sept. 25.
J-Hope proved why he was the group’s main dancer as he effortlessly outdid the “Fortnite” characters in the “Orange Justice” and “The Robot” dances. Suga, as usual, was very chill in his version of “Tidy”, an emote featuring a player wiping a window with his/her right hand. V danced as if no one’s watching when he performed the “Flapper” and “Reanimated” dance moves.
Like J-Hope, Jimin showed off his mad dancing skills when he made the “Electro Shuffle” look so easy. Jungkook, uncaring of what people would say or think of him, wiped the floor clean when he did “The Worm” emote.
Meanwhile, the group’s “dancing machines” Jin and RM showed the world they can dance better than online video game’s characters. Jin gave his all in his version of “Best Mates”, going as far as to remove his jacket to dance properly. BTS’ leader, RM, shamelessly danced “Ride the Pony” with Jimin, Fallon and V.
Of course, the show will not be complete without Fallon exhibiting his moves as well. He made the group laugh when he mastered “Zany” and “Boneless” in no time.
Fallon and BTS then went to perform the most popular “Fortnite” emote — “Floss”. Later, the seven taught the show’s host how to do the iconic step in their hit track “Idol”.
BTS sat down in an interview with Fallon, who wore a BT21 Chimmy headband, the character created by Jimin. They talked about the group’s New York experience, Suga’s wish for BTS to be invited at the Grammys, as well as the group’s United Nations speech.
To cap off the show, BTS performed “Idol” and “I’m Fine”. JB
