WATCH: James Corden tries to win Michelle Yeoh’s approval in ‘The Late Late Show’ sketch

If Constance Wu was able to win Michelle Yeoh’s approval in “Crazy Rich Asians”, can James Corden do it too?

The late night talk show host cannot seem to get Henry Golding guest in “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, all because of his mom Yeoh. This was seen in a sketch from the show posted on YouTube, Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Upon seeing Yeoh in Golding’s dressing room, Corden was determined to win her over. He even declared with confidence, “I love moms; moms love me.”

But it turned out to be quite a challenge to woo Yeoh over. As he gave her an autographed DVD copy of “Peter Rabbit”, the actress did not hesitate to throw it in the trash bin in front of Corden.

Corden also tried to impress Yeoh by making the perfect dumplings. She insulted the talk show host in Mandarin, “He has the body of a dumpling.”

When Corden had enough of the dumplings, she told him straight, “You’re never going to be good enough for our family. You’re not even good enough for your own family.”

After three failed attempts, Corden bowed down to Yeoh and handed her his tie, signifying he is done with his late night show hosting gig.

But as his luck turned around, Golding convinced Corden that he has the ability to host the show. He then handed the host his tie back, and was allowed to finally guest on his show. They then shared a big hug, with Corden telling Golding “Oh, I love you too!”, and proceeded to do the show.

The sketch was a parody of “Crazy Rich Asians”, where Yeoh and Golding star. The movie became a worldwide success, raking in close t0 $189.9 million in worldwide grosses, as per Box Office Mojo. JB
