Two weeks ahead of its release, Netflix has offered up a trailer for what it is calling the “definitive documentary” of music legend Quincy Jones.
Directed by Jones’s daughter, Rashida Jones, along with Alan Hicks, “Quincy” is described as an intimate look into Jones’s life, blending “personal vérité” moments with private archival footage.
In the trailer, we see Jones interacting with a host of other famous faces and fellow music legends, including Nelson Mandela, Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, while artists including Kendrick Lamar and Will Smith appear to discuss Jones’s inspiration in their own careers.
The famed producer is also seen interacting with daughter Rashida and discussing the rest of his family, while Barack Obama is heard offering his take on the legend.
“Quincy” will be available on Netflix Sept. 21. JB
