Arra San Agustin set the record straight amid “fake news” romantically linking her to TV host-actor Paolo Contis, saying this was farther from the truth.
The actress was asked during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview if she ever had a relationship with the actor, to which she said: “No. Hard no.”
San Agustin explained that the rumors of her supposed relationship with Contis stemmed from false articles, which used photos from their skit from their now-defunct noontime show “Tahanang Pinakamasaya.”
“Meron po kaming skit, ‘TP Happy’ ‘yung tawag… Love triangle kami—ako, si Kuya Pao at si Betong [Sumaya]. ‘Yung mga tao, they cut out pictures of me and Kuya Paolo, tapos gumagawa sila ng mga articles, like mga headlines na ako daw ‘yung third party. Nag-start po ‘yon last year,” she said.
At the time, Contis was in a relationship with actress Yen Santos.
“Tapos for some reason, nag-resurface po siya, itong news na ito. And fake news, fake ‘yung source—and I don’t know why karamihan sa mga tao naniniwala,” she stated.
San Agustin then stressed how “dangerous” social media is, lamenting how it has become a hub of “fake news and disinformation.” She further noted that she and Contis are only friends.
“Parang we can easily be manipulated or gaslighted by a single headline lang na hindi naman pala totoo,” she said. “Hindi pa sila ‘yung nagtatanong kung totoo ba, they draw conclusions.”
Contis also dismissed in November the rumors linking the two of them, saying the videos of them circulating online were just “maliciously edited.”
Meanwhile, Contis earlier hinted at being single amid rumors of his breakup with Santos.
