Kapuso star Tom Rodriguez seems to be the kind of man who can pass as a tita’s choice boy or the type who’d receive the double thumbs up from a girl’s parents.

The gentleman Rodriguez recently came to the defense of fellow actress and co-star Lovi Poe, when a certain fan refused to watch Rodriguez on television because he was paired with Poe and not his girlfriend, Carla Abellana. Rodriguez shared back in 2015 that he was turned off by “people who judge, bully and belittle” others, so it was no surprise when he defended Poe and told the fan not to resort to hurting other people.

Rodriguez shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Sept. 5, some scenes from “Dear Uge,”  the first ever comedy anthology in the country. In some of the pictures, he can be seen acting in scenes with Poe.

In his post, Rodriguez praised Poe and called her a prime actress. He, too, shared that he had a blast working with Poe again.

Kasal nga ba o bawi? Abangan ngayong linggo na po pagkatapos ng SPS! Panoorin po ang ‘Dear Uge’ kasama ang ating primera aktresang si @lovipoe !!! Woot! Had a blast working with this one again.”

Rodriguez’s post received much support from his fans. However, one netizen aired her dislike for Poe.

Ayaw [ko] yan [si] Lovi halata [siya] may gusto kay Tom,” wrote a certain Joy (@macapagaljoy). “Kung si Carla pa ipinartner kay Tom papanoorin [ko] pero [si] Lovi wag na lang!

Rodriguez immediately replied to the netizen and came to Poe’s defense, calling for the netizen to “refrain from flaming or bashing other artists.”

“We are all friends and are all just doing our jobs,” said Rodriguez.

He said he understands that many fans want him and girlfriend Carla Abellana to be paired up and that he misses working with her. However, Rodriguez maintained that there’s a way of supporting them without resorting to hurting others.

“There must be a way to advocate for that without purposefully hurting other people that are just doing work. #trabaholangpo #goodvibeslang,” Rodriguez wrote.

Rodriguez worked with Poe in the past for the movie “The Significant Other,” which opened last February. Rodriguez spoke highly of Poe, sharing that she is one of his favorite people and that he enjoys working with her.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez and Abellana have been together since 2015 and things are definitely serious between the two. Early this year, Rodriguez shared that he hopes they get married soon. Abellana, meanwhile, said back in 2015 that Rodriguez was “husband material.”

“He is a family man. He cares about his parents, loves children and has excessive energy for children,” Abellana said then. “He will do everything to provide for his family.”  /ra
