It appears it isn’t just Robin Padilla who had something to say to Senator Antonio Trillanes IV after his amnesty was revoked and he was ordered arrested by President Duterte. Comedian-actor-talent manager Ogie Diaz, too, took to social media to give his own sentiments in regard to the snag the senator now faces.
“Ganun talaga, Sen. Trillanes. Di mo napaghandaan ang ‘ganti’ eh,” wrote Diaz on his Facebook on Sept. 4. “Na-checkmate ka ni Pangulong Duterte.”
Diaz also pressed Trillanes to continue fighting for what is right and told him everyone has their due season.
“Unless, kaya mong ‘makipaglaro.’ Pero may panahon pa ba?”
Diaz, too, hoped that other moves for progress would also be underway now that Trillanes’ amnesty has been revoked.
It was in 2003 when Trillanes, along with some 300 armed soldiers—who called themselves the Magdalo group—staged the Oakwood mutiny. The soldiers took over the Oakwood Premier Ayala Center in Makati city to demand the resignation of then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and other government officials and aired the anomalies allegedly taking place in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Four years on in 2007 Trillanes, along with Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim and other Magdalo members, once again attempted to overthrow Arroyo after walking out of their trial proceedings at the Makati Regional Trial Court. Trillanes and the soldiers marched through the streets of Makati and occupied the Manila Peninsula Hotel where they called for the ouster of Arroyo.
It was last August when Duterte revoked Trillanes’ amnesty. As per Duterte, Trillanes failed to apply for amnesty and refused to admit his guilt. He has since ordered the Department of Justice and the Court of Marshall of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to “pursue all criminal and administrative charges” against the senator. /ra
