‘Hotdog’ guitarist Rene Garcia dead at 65

The lead guitarist of the OPM band “Hotdog” Rene Garcia passed away Sunday night at the age of 65, Radyo Inquirer 990 AM reported Monday.

Garcia died from cardiac arrest, the report said, quoting his brother Dennis Garcia.

The Garcia brothers formed Hotdog in the 1970’s with female lead singer Ella del Rosario.

It popularized Filipino hits like ‘Bongga Ka Day’, ‘Beh, Buti Nga’, ‘Pers Lab’, ‘Manila’, ‘Panaginip’ at ‘Annie Batungbakal.’ /cbb
