Marlo Mortel remembers last moments with mom, dedicates first single to her
Actor and singer Marlo Mortel continues to be steadfast as he copes with the grief of losing his mother, Merlie Pamintuan, who passed away last Aug. 24 after a years-long bout with breast cancer.
In view of his mother’s passing, Mortel has taken to his social media to express himself and find comfort in the presence of his fans who support and love him. Last Aug. 24, Mortel shared on his Instagram screenshots of his last conversations with his mother, with the text messages shared between them dating back to Aug. 4.
The messages showed Mortel often checking up on his mother, asking her how she was doing while also sharing how his day had been at taping or the gym. He also never forgot to tell her he loved her in his messages.
“My last conversations with Mommy,” shared Mortel. “I’m still gonna do my best to make you proud mi. It’s so hard but I know you want me to succeed. I’ll still do everything for you and daddy.”

Mortel further shared that it’s hard to accept that his mother is no longer around anymore, but vowed that they would do their best to stay strong. It’s known that Mortel is an only child, leaving him with just his father in view of his mother’s passing.
“Now it’s time for the next chapter,” Mortel said. “I know you & God are with me & Daddy. Forever you will be our one & only.”
Mortel, too, is true to his promise of continuing to make his mother proud. Mortel released his first single, “Sana Ikaw na Nga,” on Aug. 29—a momentous occasion that he dedicated to the most important woman in his life.
“Last April my mom texted that she might not be able to make it when I release my album,” Mortel shared. “But I strongly believed that you would be here mommy, I’m sorry it took so long!”
