Despite a growing movement toward body positivity, living up to beauty standards continues to plague women, amplified even more with social media.
Public figures such as actresses take the brunt of criticism about how women should look, and some have been fighting back against it.
For Janella Salvador, it’s a battle for her eyebrows. “Kilay (eyebrows) is life,” says many a beauty guru, but some who have taken this to heart have rubbed the actress the wrong way.
Salvador shared her sentiments on her eyebrows yesterday, Aug. 28, on social media.

The actress shared a selfie of her looking glamorous with full makeup and bright-red lips, her bold—but groomed—eyebrows adding character to her face.
A number of fans supported her decision, though some remained unconvinced that they weren’t flattering.
“As your fan I also have an opinion cause I care for your career… Clean look is needed to be an actress…” said Aimee (@Aimee17447480), who seemed to have a brand-new account just to comment on Salvador’s tweet.
“Bakit nakabase na ba ngayon sa eyebrow ang career ng isang tao (Why, is one person’s career now based on his/her eyebrows)?” retorted twerkitlikemiley (@basherako14).

Though Salvador has had her eyebrows shaped and “cleaned” before, it seems as of late that she’s preferred to let them stay natural.

The “My Fairy Tail Love Story” star has even graced the cover of a magazine, stunning with her thick brows.

If she’s still able to make it to magazine shoots with her “messy” eyebrows, then certainly she’s doing just fine with them. /ra
