/ 06:59 PM August 16, 2018

It’s been one year since Wil Dasovich and Alodia Gosiengfiao first became a couple — but their year has seen more than the usual share of ups and downs in a relationship, as Dasovich spent a better part of it battling cancer.

Though the two didn’t immediately formally announce that they were dating, it was clear from both their vlogs over the past year that they had more than a special connection, especially with Gosiengfiao flying back and forth to San Francisco where Dasovich was receiving treatment.

Early in 2018, the two finally had some room to breathe after it was announced that the Fil-Am vlogger was free from colon cancer, following surgery and chemotherapy.

It seemed to be a low-key celebration for the couple, until five days later, when he posted a video on Aug. 15 and asked people to tag Gosiengfiao so she would see it in her newsfeed. He admitted that he was better at expressing himself through video, which is why he chose to make it.

The short video looked back on the days since they met in 2017 at an airport, with Dasovich narrating a heartfelt message for Gosiengfiao.

“Happy anniversary to the most beautiful and genuine woman I’ve ever met in my life,” he began.

“After facing one of the hardest challenges of my life, for my life, it has been a long and difficult journey this past year. But at the same time, it happened to be the best year for one very particular reason: meeting you, the most incredible person I’ve been blessed to know.”

Dasovich shared Gosiengfiao’s teary reaction via Instagram Stories. “I was caught off guard… never expected this…” wrote Gosiengfiao in a Facebook post later in the day.

Happy anniversary, Wilodia! JB
