She may be in the industry she loves, but Kapamilya actress Julia Barretto does not want her baby sister Erich to enter show business.

She made this clear in her Tuesday guesting on “Tonight With Boy Abunda.”

“Ayoko. Ayoko po ‘wag po”  (No, I don’t want … ) “It’s cruel, it can be toxic unless you’re a tough person, you’re gonna make it out but I don’t want her to go through it,” she said.

But she said she could not do anything if her sister would decide that she also wants to follow the legacy of their family in showbiz.

The 21-year-old actress remembered how she convinced her parents to allow her to enter the industry.  Like other concerned parents who wanted to have a normal life for their children, they also did not want her to be an actress at first. She had to plead her family to let her in.

“In the same way, I cried to my parents because I wanted to be in the business so bad they could not do anything,” she said in Filipino.

Julia first appeared on television in 2007 as the young version of her aunt Claudine’s character Melanie in the drama series ‘Walang Kapalit.” Since then, she has captured the hearts of fans.

After a break in showbiz, she came back in her teens and struggled to prove that she, like her aunts, also deserve a place in the industry.

All her efforts paid off because now, she top-bills an upcoming production of ABS-CBN titled “Ngayon at Kailanman,” with her rumored boyfriend Joshua Garcia.

The series is set to debut on television on August 20.
