Hollywood stars such as Reese Witherspoon and model friends including Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge extended their congratulations on Instagram comments.

In the throng of well-wishes from high-profile personalities, one comment stood out: that from American First Daughter Ivanka Trump. Ivanka, 36, is wife to Jared Kushner, 37, who is brother to Kloss’ 33-year-old fiance.

The businesswoman gushed, “So, so happy for you and Josh! I feel blessed to have you as a sister (!!!) Karlie and look forward to the decades of happy memories we will create together as a family!”

Kloss’ relationship to Ivanka is unknown considering their differing politics. The Victoria’s Secret Angel has been vocal about her support for Hillary Clinton, President Donald Trump’s opponent in the 2016 elections. Joshua Kushner, an entrepreneur, is a “lifelong Democrat,” according to a spokesperson, and also did not vote for his brother’s father-in-law.

The couple has shown support for causes that have been controversial with the current US administration. This year, both attended the March for Our Lives protest, which called for tighter gun control.

However, Kloss has already faced some backlash for her fiance’s family ties. When she tweeted about the migrant children crisis in June and encouraged citizens to call their congresspersons, netizens were quick to point out that she could ring Jared Kushner herself.

Kloss, who has dated Joshua since 2012, has perhaps inevitably attended events with Ivanka.

And despite the heat Jared Kushner has received as the president’s senior adviser, it seems Joshua has remained close to his brother, even putting up a real estate tech firm with him.

As with any family, remaining civil despite different views is a must if one wants to maintain a semblance of peace. But it remains to be seen if Kloss will continue to be met with public scrutiny for her inadvertent political connections—and her new “sister.”  /ra
