Ambition. Greed. Murder. These are all present in the latest crime thriller movie “Billionaire Boys Club,” which features Ansel Elgort (“The Fault in our Star,” “Baby Driver”) and Taron Egerton (“Kingsman: The Secret Service”).

Directed by James Cox (“Wonderland, Straight A’s”) and co-written by Captain Mauzner, the movie is about a real story of boys at an exclusive investment-and-social club in the 1980s.

The “Billionaire Boys Club” was organized by sons of wealthy families living in Southern California in 1983. They entice businessmen with get-rich-quick schemes to invest in their “ventures,” but the money actually funds the lavish lifestyle of the club members.

But in 1984, the club’s funds started to run out, and everything was downhill from there.

Golden Globe nominee Ansel Elgort plays Joe Hunt, the group’s leader and financial expert. His love interest, Sydney, is played by Emma Roberts (“Nancy Drew”). Taron Egerton plays Dean Karny, a professional tennis player and one of the members of the club. Meanwhile, Academy Award Winner Kevin Spacey is the mysterious Beverly Hills high roller Ron Levin.

From luxurious cars to lavish homes to wild parties to deadly encounters, the “billionaire” boys will show you what it takes and what’s at stake when you desire fame and social status.

“Billionaire,”  presented by VIVA International Pictures and MVP Entertainment, opens in cinemas nationwide on July 18.  /ee
