Jennica Garcia on the ‘pains’ of striving to be the best mom: ‘Okay lang magkamali’
Like all moms, Jennica Garcia knows the struggle of trying to be the best mother. There may be times when she commits mistakes, but she assures that this is okay.
The actress and natural-parenting advocate shared what her life is now after giving birth to her second daughter on Instagram Friday.
Garcia first shared that she gets commended by netizens for being an “amazing” mom due to her posts. But she realized that maybe it makes others feel bad about themselves.
Getting real, she said that since her baby was born, Garcia understood that her first daughter, Mori, was going through a transition like her. This she realized when she suddenly raised her voice toward the tot.
“Mori naman, sana makinig ka (I hope you listen, Mori)!” Garcia told her daughter rather bluntly one time. Upon realizing her action, the 28-year-old cried and apologized. She added: “She is also in transition. I am the adult, I should have known.”

Jennica you are amazing, Jennica isa kang LODI then there's how to be you po? Kung sana hindi ako single mom, siguro nagagawa ko rin yung nagagawa mo. – I keep my posts on a cheerful note because I want to spread a harmonious energy to those who follow me but I realized that maybe, my posts are making others feel bad about themselves. Since my second child was born, for 3 straight days I gave cereals for breakfast when she is used in eating whole meals that I've supposedly prepared the night before. Hindi ko na magawa. I don't shout at Mori & maintain a calm demeanor but last night I raised my voice. Mori naman, sana makinig ka! Then I cried. I apologized. She is also in transition. I am the adult I should have known. If you swipe left you will see me holding a mason jar. I am catching the leaking milk. I was successful until I started doing it while in a side lying position. I FELL ASLEEP. Nalaglag yung mason jar sa mukha ng aking 4 days old baby. Thank God, she did not cry and that she is fine. For some reason parang wala siyang naramdaman because she was still breastfeeding as if nothing happend but I am sure natamaan siya. Now why I am my sharing this kahit alam ko na may mambabatikos sakin. Kasi Inay, okay lang yun na nagkamali ka. Okay lang na minsan gusto mo ikaw naman. Pwede naman tayo magkamali. May Diyos, at buhay siya. Because of what He did, there will always be hope for us. To continue loving our husbands, even in those days when they are no longer lovable. By being able to demonstrate saintly patience in the household so that our family will see Christ in us. Wag mo kukumpara yung mga Nanay sa social media. Ganon talaga, gaya ko ang ipopost ko yung masasaya pero di ibig sabihin nun laging masaya. Ganon naman talaga ang buhay. Let's just hold on to eternity and God's promises para hindi tayo mawala ng landas. Bilib ako sa iyo INAY! Mabuhay ka!ADVERTISEMENT
Garcia then told everyone about her photo that shows her breastfeeding the baby while holding on to a mason jar to catch some leaking milk in her other breast. She said that she was successful at first, but that when she succumbed to sleep while doing it in a side lying position, Garcia bared that she accidentally dropped the jar, which fell on her days-old baby’s face.
“Thank God, she did not cry and that she is fine,” she said. “For some reason parang wala siyang naramdaman (she didn’t feel anything) because she was still breastfeeding as if nothing happened, but I am sure natamaan siya (she got hit).”
Despite what happened, she said that her post served as a reminder: “Kasi Inay, okay lang yun na nagkamali ka.”
And to those who praise her for being a role-model mom, she said: “Wag mo kukumpara yung mga Nanay sa social media (Don’t compare moms on social media).”
“Ganon talaga, gaya ko ang ipopost ko yung masasaya pero di ibig sabihin nun laging masaya,” Garcia went on. “Ganon naman talaga ang buhay.”
(That’s how it is, my posts don’t always mean that my life is always happy. That’s how life goes.)
The actress welcomed her second child with actor Alwyn Uytingco on Monday. The two have been married since 2014. /ra
