Sharon Cuneta remembers dad Pablo through old gifts she gave him
Megastar Sharon Cuneta is in a reminiscent mood and misses dearly her father, the late former Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta. The self-professed daddy’s girl took to her Instagram page on June 25 to openly share to her fans that she had been feeling sad.
“Last night, I was very sad. So I busied myself by cleaning out my safe and fixing all that was inside,” said Sharon, telling fans that she found some of the gifts she gave him years back, in the safe.
“I found this ring, with a letter ‘P’ cut out from one diamond, which I gave to my Daddy as a gift for either his birthday or Father’s Day (Remember, his name was- IS! – Pablo?). I then also found this Rolex watch that I gave him one Father’s Day.”
Sharon shared that she and her dad kept the gifts secret from her mother, Elaine Gamboa. “When Mom noticed the watch and asked from whom it was, Daddy said it was from our dear family friend Mr. Nano Nocom.”

Sharon further wrote, “Mom found out agad na it was from me pala — kasi naman sa City Hall where Dad was working (he was Mayor of Pasay then), pinapagmalaki niya na, ‘Galing sa anak kong si Sharon ito!’ to anyone who cared to listen!”

“Nagselos si Elaine. Napabili ako bigla ng isa pang Rolex for her. Hahahaha! I am now wearing them both…and feel like my Dad is near,” she said.
(Mom got jealous. I had to buy another Rolex for her. [Laughs] I am now wearing them both, and I feel like my Dad is near.)
Pablo Cuneta passed away almost 18 years ago in 2000 at the age of 90. The cause of his death was cardiac arrest, and his remains lie at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City. But contrary to the age-old saying that time heals all, it appears that Pablo’s passing still leaves a huge impression on his daughter.
“I miss you, my Daddy. I wish you were here to hug me and give me a good ‘talking to’ to remind me to fight for myself and to follow my heart, and not always think of other people before ‘me.’” She poignantly added, “I love you with all my heart, my Daddy. I really miss you.” JB
