Unique Salonga performed solo a month after he parted ways with indie band IV of Spades.
Fans have missed his presence in what used to be a foursome who delivered hits “Mundo” and “Ilaw sa Daan.” However, he is pushing forward with going his own way, as seen in a performance at Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano’s birthday party.
Cipriano posted two videos of Salonga performing in a Quezon City café. The musician was in his signature turtleneck playing barefoot in front of a huddle of musicians and celebrities including Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo.
The frontman lauded Salonga: “Sobrang saya kagabi eh! Eto yung highlight! Maraming salamat UNIQUE! Super appreciate it man! Sobrang napasaya mo kaming lahat! Priceless.”
(Last night was so fun! This was the highlight! Thanks so much Unique! Super appreciate it man! You made us all so happy! Priceless.)
Some fans also had varied reactions when Cipriano posted a photo of Salonga and promoted his Facebook fan page, with some wondering if he was involved in Salonga’s split from the band.
Some were skeptical about what seemed to be a partnership. “Happy Kean. The money-making Unique is his alone. Unique, seriously?” Tracy (@sultrysunn) said.
“Happy ka ba sa ginagawa mo Kean (Are you happy with what you’re doing, Kean)?” Denise Avery (@deniseavery_) asked.
Still, there were supportive followers. “As long as kumakanta si Unique! Support ako,” said Angel Andrea (@iamangelam_).
“Paki ingatan si unique. Salamat (Please take care of Unique. Thanks),” said Jade (@jadeexxii). /ra
