Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray’s first-ever trip to Japan this week proved to be memorable, the country being a destination she’s been wanting to cross out in her bucket list ever since she was a teenager. Apart from the usual sightseeing and food trips, however, Gray also had the chance to meet with Yuumi Kato, Miss Universe Japan 2018.
The meeting was made known two days ago, May 30, when Yuumi took to her Instagram account to share a photo of her with Gray. In the picture, the two can be seen standing right next to each other, with Gray’s right arm wrapped around Yuumi’s waist.
“Such a pleasure to have @missuniverse Philippines @catriona_gray in Tokyo Japan,” wrote Yuumi.
The meeting seemed to be the perfect welcome to Gray’s first visit to Japan, and the beauty queen wasted no time marveling and enjoying the beauty the country had to offer.
Gray has taken to her Instagram account to share to her followers her Japan adventures, from taking a trip to a cat cafe and eating ramen at Ichiran Ramen Umeda, to striking a pose in Shibuya Crossing.
Gray, too, made sure she bought her own kimono before leaving Tokyo, even proudly sharing that she tied her “obi” herself.
“So sad to be leaving tomorrow but I couldn’t have imagined a better first experience in Japan!” Gray wrote as she shared a photo of her wearing a kimono. “…Btw, I am the proud owner of my first kimono and tied my obi (the belt) myself!” /ra
