Willie Revillame gives money, phone to man caught sleeping in his show
It looks like TV host-businessman Willie Revillame found it amusing when he saw someone from his “Wowowin” audience sleeping during their May 4 show. Revillame was on stage with co-host and actor Paolo Contis when he spotted the young man from afar.
Upon seeing the man, Revillame signaled for the people to be quiet and, addressing the sleeping man, jokingly said, ““Pare, ok ka lang ba diyan, penge naman niyan. Quiet, quiet, quiet lang ha.” (Friend, are you okay there? May I have some of that? Quiet, quiet, quiet, okay?)
“Pengeng jacket, pengeng cellphone, wag niyong gisingin (May I have a jacket? And a cellphone? Don’t wake him up),” Revillame told his staff as he walked down the stage to go over to the young man, who was still sleeping in his chair while the people around him laughed.
“Susurpresahin ko lang siya, quiet, quiet lang (I will just surprise him, quiet, please stay quiet),” Revillame said, sitting beside the sleeping man.
He then said in a gentle voice, “Alam niyo mga kababayan, syempre napagod ang tao. Ganyan talaga ang buhay, nakakahiya naman kanına pa tayo rito, tatlong araw na po tayong di umaalis dito pero andito pa rin siya. Alam mo pare naiintindihan ko naman, naiintindihan ko naman ang kalagayan… Shhhh please lang quiet naman nagpapahinga ang kaibigan natin,” he said as more people laughed.

It’s embarrassing, we’ve all been here all throughout, we’ve been here three days without leaving, but he’s still here. You know, my friend, I understand, I understand the situation. Shhhh, please, stay quiet, our friend is resting.)

Meron kang Cherry Mobile (You’ve got Cherry Mobile).” He then placed the phone on the young man’s arms, who was still fast asleep.
“Meron kang jacket (You’ve got a jacket),” he added, wrapping the show’s signature jacket around the undisturbed young man.
It seems, however, that the crowd couldn’t hold it in anymore at some point, as they cheered and finally woke the guy up. Revillame greeted him with laughter, “Hello! Hoy, surprise! Surprise!” Before singing him a happy birthday.
The young man kept his head low, seemingly embarrassed from the situation. Revillame, however, still wasn’t finished. “Kasi ikaw alam mo sa totoo lang isa kang Pilipinong masipag. Bibigyan kita ng tatlong libo. Okay, kamusta naman ang panaginip mong bwisit ka, habang kami naman ay nagsisiya at tulog ka ng tulog, anong gustong mong sabihin?”
(The truth is you’re a hardworking Filipino. I’ll give you P3,000. Okay, so how’s your dream, silly, while all of us here are having fun, you’ve just been sleeping there. What do you want to say?)
With a sheepish smile, all the young man could muster was, “Will, maraming salamat.” (Will, thanks a lot.) JB
