Saab Magalona created a short video blog to document baby Pancho’s successful journey, where he survived a crucial operation.
Magalona narrated on the YouTube vlog, posted May 12, that Pancho needed to have the Ommaya Reservoir removed from his head. Doctors previously used this small silicon catheter to relieve pressure from the baby’s brain due to fluid build up. They scheduled the surgery for May 11, 11 p.m.
Magalona thought she would end up spending her first Mother’s Day in the hospital to keep Pancho company. To her surprise, things went well in the surgery, allowing the family to go home the following morning on May 12. It was just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day at home, on May 13.

Magalona also revealed on the video that Pancho developed some rashes on his cheeks. She worried Pancho may be breaking out due to an allergic reaction to cheese, house milk or dairy products. Magalona breastfeeds little Pancho, so what she eats may be affecting the milk she produces.
On their way out of the hospital on May 12, staff surrounded mother and son at the nurse’s station to say goodbye to the miracle baby. Magalona wrote on the video, “This really is the best gift I could ask for. His twin Luna is really looking out for him.“
Pancho’s twin sister Luna passed away in February. The family buried her next to her grandfather, rapper-composer and local music icon Francis Magalona. JB
