Actress Carice van Houten is swapping the “Game of Thrones” fantasy world for the prison system in “Locus of Control,” a new film directed by Halina Reijn.
Famous worldwide for her role as Lady Melisandre in the cult series “Game of Thrones,” Carice van Houten is set to star in “Locus of Control,” Variety reports. Halina Reijn is the director, and filming is expected to be completed at the end of this month.
Van Houten will play a prison psychologist who starts an affair with a serial sex offender who is about to be released. Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari will play the offender.
“Locus of Control” will be Dutch actress Halina Reijn’s directorial debut. She has already worked with van Houten on the Paul Verhoeven-directed movie “Black Book” in 2006, and Bryan Singer’s “Valkyrie” in 2008.
Carice van Houten will reprise her role as the Red Priestess in the upcoming final season of “Game of Thrones,” set to premiere on HBO in 2019. And Marwan Kenzari will be seen as the villainous Jafar in the Guy Ritchie-directed movie “Aladdin.” He’ll be starring alongside Will Smith and Mena Massoudin in the fantasy adventure scheduled for release in May 2019.
