‘13 Reasons Why’s’ persistent dreamer
Returning teen drama “13 Reasons Why” will be streaming on Netflix this month, continuing the story of abuse victim Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) and the people she blamed for her suicide. But one person who isn’t part of her list is Tony Padilla, played by Christian Navarro.
He recently shared on Instagram the Season 2 trailer, which featured him prominently. The former “Vinyl” actor also recalled on Twitter a pivotal event when he was 16: “[Ten years] ago, I acted in my first [high school] play. I fell in love with my craft immediately. I was also told by my director [that] I wouldn’t be very successful, so I left my all-boys Jesuit high school and auditioned for @PPASchool (Professional Performing Arts School). Don’t let someone else write your story.”
The Puerto Rican-American actor returns to “13 Reasons Why” as the macho, cassette tape-playing gay guy Tony, close friend of geeky protagonist Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette). —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
