Dennis Padilla hopes Joshua Garcia won’t give him a reason to turn into an action star — this the comedian said as a response to the current issues hounding Garcia who is the love team partner of his daughter Julia Barretto.
JoshLia fans have recently speculated that Garcia and Barretto had broken up, after Garcia complimented another girl on Instagram through the sending of a private message, which the girl revealed to the public. Garcia clarified the story during an interview on the TV talk show “Tonight With Boy Abunda”. The actor said that thought it has not been easy, he and Barretto were able to sort things out.
The comedian didn’t want to be too involved in the relationship spat between Garcia and Barretto, pointing out that the two young stars are old enough to patch things up themselves. However, Padilla wishes to remind Garcia that while he acts comically, he can turn into an action star should his daughter get hurt: “Kaya ‘yun lang ang message ko kay Joshua. Siguraduhin mo Joshua hindi ako magiging action star.”
(That’s my only message to Joshua. Make sure, Joshua, that I don’t need to turn into an action star.)
He expressed all these during an interview by StarsPhotog Vidz for the fifth season of his television show “Funny Ka, Pare Ko”.
Padilla also recalls a heart-to-heart conversation with Garcia. At the time, he advised Garcia to talk to him directly as a man should something come up.
“Lalake ka, lalake ako, kung magkakaroon ng problema, kausapin mo din ako. Nag-usap tayo eh. Iba ‘yung nag-uusap ng personal kesa sa nababalitaan mo lang ‘yung kwento,” said Padilla.
(You’re a man. I’m a man. If there’s a problem, talk to me. We had an agreement. Talking personally is different from just relying on hearsay.)
At the time of the interview, Padilla said he has not spoken to Garcia yet regarding the issue. When asked if he was disappointed about the development in his daughter’s relationship, he said, “Oo naman, syempre anak mo ‘yun eh!”
(Yes, of course, that’s my daughter!)
While Padilla insists on being hands-off regarding the issue, reiterating that Garcia and Barretto are already adults, the loving father did offer some advice to his daughter:
“Pagka alam mo nang hindi ka na masaya, umalis ka na dyan. Kung masaya ka pa dyan, maintain mo lang.”
(When you know that you’re no longer happy where you are, get out. If you’re still happy where you are, just maintain it.) JB
