Could Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion be on the outs just shortly after they reunited?
It just might be the case after both unfollowed one another on Instagram. Just last February, fans were elated to see the former couple follow each other on the social media platform.
The Megastar added fuel to speculations that something was amiss with their renewed friendship when she posted a quote and wrote in the caption that she had lost a “lasting friendship.”
Her tone was somber as she said, “Recent events have taken the wind out of my sails that I am sure you, my dearest friends and family, already understand why I have been MIA, avoiding messaging, e-mailing.”
“You will never know how much pain losing what I thought would be a lasting friendship this time has caused me,” she lamented. “How can only all good intentions go wrong? I guess that’s life.”
“I never wanted to hurt anyone. I also certainly didn’t expect to be humiliated and hurt,” she said, keeping details vague.
“I just wanted a forever friend to keep for our beautiful child, and a beautiful movie. Minsan ayaw ng tadhana (Sometimes destiny doesn’t allow it).”
She could have been referring to their daughter, KC, and a rumored reunion movie.
Cryptic quotes
On the actor’s side, Concepcion posted a quote last Mar. 31; it is unclear if it alludes to his and Cuneta’s predicament.
“Don’t ever feel bad for making a decision about your own life that upsets other people. You are not responsible for their happiness. You’re responsible for your own happiness. Anyone who wants you to live in misery for their happiness should not be in your life to begin with,” said the quote attributed to author Isaiah Hankel.
A fan account, @inspiredbysharoncuneta commented on Concepcion’s post, “That is a beautiful quote but it is quite selfish too…We are still to be mindful that we don’t cause anyone misery.”
The account claims that its comment was deleted and the page blocked from Concepcion’s account. However, a screenshot of the comment was reposted on Cuneta’s account.
Without addressing Concepcion, Cuneta gave her own take on the quote in an Instagram post: “It is one thing to be selfish and cause others misery. But it is another thing to fight for what has always been, and what is right, fair, long-accepted and respected.”
“Also, it is wrong to bear false witness against thy neighbor (even in the stories you tell your fans and admirers). It is also wrong to lie,” she added.
“THIS IS THE END OF MY OWN CHAPTER ONE. WHICH, unlike Jesus, I believe should never be RESURRECTED – again and again. Tapos na po ako dito (I’m done here).”
The following day, the “Ika-6 na Utos” star shared this quote: “Two things prevent us from happiness; living in the past and observing others.”
He and Cuneta were a blockbuster love team in the 1980s, who eventually married in 1984. The actress has said that he was her “first true love”; sadly, they separated after a few years, even after having a daughter together.
“He met someone else and he chose her,” the actress explained in “Rated K” in early March.
Cuneta is married to Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan while Concepcion is wedded to Genevieve Gonzales. JB
