Over 9,000 Mexican fans were overjoyed to watch the finale of the anime series “Dragon Ball Super” in a public screening.
The event, organized by the Ciudad Juarez government in Chihuahua state, Mexico, on March 18, proved to be a success as thousands of “Dragon Ball” fans flocked to Plaza de la Mexicanidad to watch the anime series’ finale.
Over 15,000 fans attended the event, according to a tweet from the Ciudad Juarez government.

Plans for the public screening had been announced a little over a week before, with confirmation from Ciudad Juarez Municipal President-elect Armando Cabada.
However, the road to the event proved as winding as the Snake Road. Toei Animation caught wind of the event and issued a statement saying they did not authorize a public screening. The animation company then requested to shut down the event citing copyright laws.

After meeting with Toei and anime streaming service Crunchyroll, Ciudad Juarez officials announced on Facebook that permission to publicly screen the “Dragon Ball Super” finale had been granted.
While at the venue, some fans took the time to get a picture with Goku and Vegeta.

Though “Dragon Ball Super” the series has ended, fans can look forward to a “Dragon Ball Super” movie, which will premiere in Japan later this year. Perhaps Ciudad Juarez could get permission to hold another screening event for the anime film. /ra
