If 2011 were a song… we ask some stars
BEFORE we welcome 2012 with open arms and an open heart, let’s assess how 2011 went. Where did those 365 days go?
As a New Year afterthought, I posed this question to some celebrities: If 2011 was a song in your life, what genre would it be and why?
Mine would be chill-out music. Just like the cool rhythm of that genre, serenity surrounded me in 2011 as I was blessed with the opportunity to travel every month — here and abroad. I love living la vida viajera. Life is too short to stay too long in one place. With that in mind, let the travels unravel in 2012. Bottoms up and live it up!
OGIE ALCASID: “It would definitely be gospel music. It was a year of blessings and thanksgiving.”
KARYLLE: “Mash-up! Everything in 2011 came together in a creative, fun, beautiful and unexpected way.”
MARTIN NIEVERA: “It would be a new house mix of an old love ballad classic. If I could remix and give new life to a few things in 2011, I would have. I should have. Everybody needs a new beat.”
JOLINA MAGDANGAL “Rap. I’m not into rap music pero ito ang naisip ko dahil sa dami ng pagsubok at kasiyahan na nangyari sa akin in 2011. Sa rap music lang magkakasya ang words/lyrics to express what I experienced in the past year.”
MARVIN AGUSTIN: “Mash-up! A lot happened in 2011. Succeeded and failed in many ways but I’m stronger. Failure is success if you learned from it.”
ERIC QUIZON: “Soundtrack of ‘Cinema Paradiso.’ This has been my favorite movie score ever since I watched the movie, which won the Academy Award for best foreign language film in 1990. The music of Ennio Morricone is truly an inspirational instrumental depiction of life. Just like what you see at the movies. It has its highs and lows. Whether I feel good or bad, I just listen to this soundtrack and I’m instantly in a better disposition. As a cool second all-time favorite, Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ always brightens my mood anytime.
JOEY GENEROSO: “The year 2011 was different for me since I ventured into several solo projects. But the genre was surprisingly the same. Love songs pa rin — proof of my unceasing love affair with music, be it with Side A or in my solo gigs.”
LUKE MEJARES: “House music. Generally masaya ang 2011 both in my career and personal life na parang house music kasi fun and magaan lang.”
