Despite the state of relations between Aljur Abrenica and the father of his fiancee Robin Padilla, Abrenica says he was happy that Robin met their son Alas.
“Masayang masaya ako. Pinakita pa nga ni Kylie sa’kin ang mga videos (I was so happy. Kylie [Padilla] showed me the videos),” Abrenica told the Philippine Entertainment Portal about the first fateful meeting.
“Holiday season siya. Importante sakin magkasama sila eh (It was the holiday season. It’s important that they were together),” he explained.
Baby Alas Joaquin was born on Aug. 4, 2017, and is Kylie and Abrenica’s first child together. However, Robin did not meet him right away as he didn’t approve of the couple’s relationship without being married.
Finally, Robin met his grandson in November in what became an emotional occasion.

In a late October 2017 episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” Abrenica publicly apologized to Robin. However, a formal reconciliation has yet to take place.
In another episode of the talk show, Robin said he wanted his grandson to look at his parents with his head high and that this could be done if they were married.

Kylie admitted in an early October 2017 interview that she and Abrenica were not ready for marriage yet, and that she wanted to be careful because she herself came from a broken family.
“At alam kong kaming dalawa ni AJ (Aljur), marami pa kaming kailangang ayusin (I know AJ and I have a lot of things to fix),” she said.
The couple has remained strong in light of their new family member. They currently do not have a helper, so Abrenica shared that they’ve been doing chores together.
“Ang kagandahan dun, nagkakaroon kami ng bond sa hirap at ginhawa (The beauty of it is that we get to bond in good times and bad),” he said of their arrangement. Niña V. Guno /ra
