WATCH: Robin Padilla meets Kylie’s son Alas for the first time
Actor Robin Padilla was a beaming grandfather when he finally met his daughter Kylie’s son, Alas Joaquin.
Since Alas was born in August, Padilla had not met his grandson even when Kylie visited his home.
There had been tension between him and Kylie because he has been insistent that she and fiancé Aljur Abrenica get married.
However, the 24-year-old actress reasoned that she doesn’t want to rush into it, even if it displeased her father.
When Isabella — Robin and wife Mariel’s first child together — had a birthday bash for her first birthday, Kylie made an appearance with three-month-old Alas.
The meeting was an elating moment for the 47-year-old actor, and an emotional one for Kylie.
He wrote in an Instagram post, “Walang pinakamasaya sa isang lolo kundi ang mayakap at mabuhat ang isa sa unang apo… Wala ng hihigit pang kaligayahan sa araw na ito.”
(There is nothing happier for a grandfather than to hold his first grandchild. This is the happiest day.)
In an October episode of “Tonight Show with Boy Abunda”, Abrenica apologized to Robin.
“Wala naman po akong balak pabayaan iyan—mahal ko po iyan,” he explained. (I don’t plan to leave her. I love her.)
He also said he wanted Robin to experience the joy of meeting his grandchild.
There’s still no word if they have spoken since. JB
