“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” had its fair share of funny moments to balance out the loss and sadness spread out in the movie. Director Rian Johnson revealed that some of the dialogue from those light moments came from the late Carrie Fisher herself.
Johnson shared in an interview with People that Fisher came up with some of the witty lines which made moviegoers smile.
He recalled the part where Luke Skywalker commented on General Leia Organa’s hair.
“That was her,” Johnson said. “That was a Carrie Fisher line. Of course it was.”
Fisher also came up with the lines in a scene with Admiral Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern). Leia says, “You go, I’ve said it enough,” in reference to the much-loved saying, “May the Force be with you.”
Johnson said Fisher often shared her ideas with him.
“I would sit down with her and she would just give me… After an hour, I would have filled up pages and pages writing down the notes and one-liners that she would pitch,” said the director. “And so we tried to work them in whenever we could.”
While Carrie Fisher has passed on, ending her performance of the role of the beloved Princess Leia, the actress made sure to leave something for her fans to remember her by. JB
