Why Kris Aquino is staying away from politics
Despite avoiding political content on her social media platforms, politics keeps finding its way back to Kris Aquino.
On Saturday, the Queen of All Media took a break from her lighthearted personal posts to address fake news that she intended to run for a senate position.

“If you will choose to invent quotes from me—GALINGAN NYO NAMAN,” she quipped, criticizing the post’s poor grammar. (“If you will choose to invent quotes from me—do a proper job.)
The 46-year-old has since shared a video when she was seven years old campaigning for her imprisoned father, Ninoy Aquino.

The younger Kris appears confident, her voice never wavering as she appealed to a crowd on his behalf.
“Halos anim na taon ko nang hindi nakakapiling ang tatay ko si Ninoy Aquino. Sana’y matulungan n’yo ako, para makipiling ko naman, ng mommy ko at ng mga kapatid ko, at lalong lalo na para makapaglingkod na rin sa inyo.”
(I have been apart from my father Ninoy Aquino for six years. I hope you can help me so that my mother and siblings can reunite with him and so he can serve you.)
Aquino pointed out the obvious first: that her features are natural.
“True ang KAPUTIAN ko… Hindi thanks to science my eyes and nose.” (My white skin is real… my eyes and nose are not thanks to science.)
She also said the video shows that “I am comfortable and was born for the political arena.”
However, “It’s not yet my career path for one IMPORTANT reason.”
Her mother told her that a stable home life should come first, given their turbulent childhood, with her family in the center of resistance to martial law.
Another piece of advice from the late President: “Kristina, only be a public servant when you can live within the salary of an elected official and you’ve saved enough from your investments that it can supplement all your needs. That means you will need to simplify.”
While she has successfully built her own brand in media and runs multiple businesses, she admitted that it would still take her time to fulfill that condition.
“I know I have YEARS to go before Bimb is enrolled in a top-ranked university,” she said, referring to her 10-year-old son known for his high grades broadcasted on her social media accounts.
She has also been open about supporting her two sons, Joshua and Bimby, on her own.
On her taste for the finer things in life, she said, “I have even more years to work on the SIMPLIFICATION of the admittedly maarte pero matalino, maabilidad, at masipag na Kris.”
(I have even more years to work on the simplification of the admittedly choosy but smart, resourceful and hardworking Kris.)
Out of five siblings, only her brother, former president Noynoy Aquino, entered politics. JB
