Thoroughly professional ‘Lolas’

The “lolas” (from left): Paolo Ballesteros, Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo

Director Mark A. Reyes V raves about working with the Lolas, aka comedians Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo and Paolo Ballesteros, on the set of “Trip Ubusan: The Lolas vs. Zombies.”

“Any film that deals with special effects, stunts and, yes, zombies, is bound to be difficult. Add the fact that it was a ‘road movie,’” he concedes. “But this movie was perhaps the easiest and most fun-filled shoot I’ve ever had.”

Credit largely goes to the three lolas (grandmothers). “They were ultimate professionals,” Reyes tells the Inquirer. “There was no ‘attitude’…no complaints on how challenging the scenes were. No wonder they are loved and blessed. Such humble actors.”—BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
