Maine Mendoza took to social networking site ask.fm to field questions from netizens, ranging from tips on making friends to her favorite poem.

The showbiz sweetheart gave entertaining responses with her typical “punny” humor.

But the 22-year-old also gave some real talk when the question called for it.

“I think I am suffering from anxiety attack but I am afraid to seek help from an expert. I am even afraid to tell my family,” confessed a netizen.

She advised the person to be open to seeking help.

“Tell your parents about it because they have to know. Sila ang tutulong sayo,” advised Mendoza. (I’s they who will help you.)

“Kasi kung di mo sasabihin ako ang magsasabi sa kanila kasama ko sila ngayon. Charot.” (If you don’t tell them, I will. They’re with me right now. Just kidding.)

Another asked for advice on coping with depression.

“One of the simplest things you could do is to have someone to talk to. Kasi nakakagaan din ng pakiramdam yung nailalabas mo yung saloobin mo.” (Opening up about how you feel can help you feel better.)

“And don’t be afraid to seek professional help. Walang mali doon at walang kahiya-hiya doon,” she added. (There’s nothing wrong or shameful about asking for professional help.)

She also reached out to a follower who wanted to tell her parents that she was in love with a girl.

“Talk to them about it… dahan dahanin mo…

Naaaaaaay……. taaaaaaay…….

Jokes aside, she advised telling her parents about her feelings.

Maiintindihan ka din nila—kung di man ngayon, pagdating ng panahon.” (They will understand you—if not now, then in due time.)

Aside from social media, she has also maintained a blog where she shares her candid thoughts, and has recently published an autobiography, “Yup, I Am That Girl”.
