Netflix allocated a sizable budget to produce more content in 2018, and this includes 30 new anime titles.
According to the Netflix Q3 2017 Earnings Interview, a good portion of the 8 billion budget for next year will be allocated to produce 30 anime titles. This will be part of the grand plan to further expand their content library, which would include foreign anime titles.
Some of the titles that have already been announced include Kyoto Animation’s “Violet Evergarden”, BONES studio’s “A.I.C.O.: Incarnation”, “Toei Animation’s “Knights of the Zodiac: SAINT SEIYA”, “Godzilla” and the continuation of the “Castlevania” anime series, to name a few.
The rest of the budget will be used to create 80 new original films and more exclusive series. All in all, the company aims to have 50 percent of its content library become originally produced by the end of 2018. JB
