After being called out for his silence on Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault allegations, Ben Affleck released a statement condemning Weinstein.
“I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades,” he said.

“Charmed” actress Rose McGowan, whom the Hollywood producer paid $100,000 as settlement for sexual harassment allegations, claims Affleck knew about the assault.
“Ben Affleck f*ck off,” she wrote.

She then tweeted that the “Batman” actor, prior to a press conference after the assault occurred, told McGowan, “Goddamnit! I told him to stop doing that.”

Affleck and sexual harassment
Affleck has been silent about brother Casey, who was slammed with a lawsuit after allegedly sexually harassing two female colleagues.
Cinematographer Magdalena Gorka and producer Amanda White sued the actor during the production of 2010 mockumentary “I’m Still Here.” Both claims were settled in 2010.
The younger Affleck was accused of creating an environment on set where the women were constantly sexually harassed, such as grabbing White, caressing Gorka in her bed without her consent, and having a crew member bare his penis.
However, the shadow of the harassment case seems to be behind him as he has been praised for his performance in “Manchester by the Sea” and continues to work in Hollywood projects.
On Twitter, “One Tree Hill” actress Hilarie Burton claims that Ben groped her breast when she was in MTV’s Total Request Live, or TRL.
She said she laughed then so she wouldn’t cry during the incident in 2003; at the time Affleck was about 30 years old and she 20.
Weinstein and Affleck
Weinstein and Affleck were industry pals; the former supported the actor’s films, namely “Good Will Hunting,” “Reindeer Games” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.”
A New York Times piece published on Oct. 5 detailed the unwanted sexual advances and manipulation that Weinstein did to actresses who would reject him.
Weinstein has since been fired from the board of his own company, despite desperately asking executives to vouch for him. His wife, Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman, stated that she has been separated from him since 2007. /ra
