‘Avatar’ sequels begin production with over $1 billion budget

Filming for the sequels of James Cameron’s “Avatar” have finally begun in the United States, at Manhattan Beach.

The production will be the biggest of its kind to date. It will span four sequels and cost somewhere around $1 billion in total, according to Deadline.

The first of these four “Avatar” sequels will be released by Dec. 18, 2020. The second will premiere a year later, while the final two installments will open in theaters on December 2024 and 2025.

The last time a director shot consecutive sequels was when Peter Jackson worked on the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy in one go.

In a another film universe, Cameron confirmed the return of actress Linda Hamilton to the “Terminator” franchise. She will be joined by Arnold Schwarzenegger. JB
