“Game of Thrones” fans are rejoicing again as HBO has confirmed that a fifth spinoff series based on George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy saga “A Song of Ice and Fire” is now in development.
Last May, the studio confirmed that four writers had been tapped to write four different prequels and it looks like the legendary novelist has approved of a fifth one.

According to Variety, Bryan Cogman, who worked on the first season of the show, will pen the project.
Martin was quite high on the veteran television and producer, claiming: “I don’t know anyone who knows and loves Westeros as well as he does.”
Cogman was also involved as a writer and co-executive producer in GoT’s latest season, providing material for the second episode of Season 7, “Stormborn,” as well as the seventh episode of Season 6, “The Broken Man.”
He joins a group of talented writers previously announced by HBO, including Max Borenstein (“Kong: Skull Island”), Jane Goldman (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”), Brian Helgeland (“Legend”) and Carly Wray (“Mad Men,” “The Leftovers”).
As of this writing, details of the five projects remain scarce, but it is expected to delve into the novel’s vast history prior to the events of the show. None of the current cast are expected to be involved as well. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
