It’s been two years since Hollywood royalty Angelina Jolie last appeared on the big screen and it’s about time for a comeback.
After opting to go behind the camera as a producer and director in recent years, the 42-year-old actress confirmed her return to acting, reprising her role as one of Disney’s most notable villains in the sequel of the 2014 film “Maleficent”.
“I am now the breadwinner for the family so it’s time,” Jolie described her comeback in jest to Deadline. “We have been working on the script and this is going to be a really strong sequel.”
With Jolie bringing life to the fabled horned enchantress, the 2014 film became a rousing success and grossed over $750 million worldwide.
It also showcased the acting debut of her youngest daughter with estranged husband Brad Pitt, Vivianne, who appeared as the young Aurora.
“I’ve taken over a year off now, because of my family situation, to take care of my kids,” Jolie said in a separate report from The Hollywood Reporter. “I look forward to having some fun with that.”
She added that while her children became her number one priority throughout those trying times, she’s ready to immerse herself to the limelight once more.
“When they can have—when I feel it’s time for me to go back to work, I’ll be able to go back to work,” she told the news outlet. “I’ve been needed at home. I hope [to work again] in the months to come.”
