Besides being an A-list comedian, entertainment guru Joey De Leon has always been known for his frankness and occasional shoutouts to rival shows.
In a Twitter post last August 20, De Leon was on a roll once again. He particularly gave his two cents on GMA 7’s former slogan, “Where you belong.”
For him, “We don’t care where we belong. Ang iniintindi namin ay (What we are concerned about is) TO BE LONG! Or TO BE THE LONGEST.” Noticeably, he tagged the Twitter account of his long-running noontime show, “Eat Bulaga” and that of fellow Kapuso comedian Michael V’s.

In another post, the TV host waxed sarcastic when he said, “Wala pa pala kaming kabuhay-buhay nung lagay na yun dahil LIFE BEGINS AT 40!”
(It turns out we were not yet even lively all the while, because life begins at 40.)

Incidentally, last August 7, Kapamilya comedian Vice Ganda drew attention once again because of a controversial joke he cracked at the Miss Q and A segment of “It’s Showtime”, about talents of GMA 7 transferring to ABS-CBN.
His joke was, “If GMA is where you belong, bakit sila nagsisilipat? (Why are they transferring?)”
Vice Ganda immediately retracted his statement and said it was only a joke.
Could De Leon’s statement be a retaliation to Vice Ganda?
“Eat Bulaga” is local showbiz’s longest-running noontime show. The variety show, top-billed by the comedy trio of Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Vic Sotto and Joey De Leon, started back in 1979.
Under Television And Production Exponents (TAPE), the show first aired on RPN 9, transferred to ABS-CBN, and eventually stayed permanently with GMA.
Now 39 years old, “Eat Bulaga” has given birth to the careers of a lot of local artists known today, such as former child stars Aiza Seguerra and Camille Prats, actresses and singers Jessa Zaragoza and Donna Cruz, and actor Jericho Rosales, among others. JB
