Justin cuts ‘Purpose’ concert tour short to ‘rest, relax, ride some bikes’

Justin Bieber has apologized to his fans after he unexpectedly canceled the remaining 14 dates of his “Purpose” world tour, which was originally scheduled to make a stop at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Sept. 30
“I love you, guys. I think you guys are awesome. Sorry to everybody who feels disappointed or betrayed. It’s not in my heart or anything,” the pop star told the entertainment website TMZ in an ambush video interview in Santa Monica, California.
Asked if “everything’s fine,” the 23-year-old recording artist said “yes,” pointing out that he had been on the road for almost two years. “Purpose,” Justin’s third world tour, was launched in support of his fourth album of the same title, and kicked off on March 9, 2016.
“Yeah, [I will be] just resting, getting some relaxation. Gonna ride some bikes,” he related.
Earlier, Justin issued an official statement on his Facebook page, but didn’t provide an explanation for the cancellation.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the ‘Purpose’ world tour concerts. The pop star loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience over the last 18 months,” the statement read.
“He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across six continents during this run,” it added.
Local promoter MMI Live, on the other hand, said ticket-holders may contact SM Tickets for refunds (call 470-2222).
While Justin drew flak from not a few disgruntled fans, singer-songwriter John Mayer came to his defense, saying that the Canadian artist’s decision to stop was probably for the best.
“When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going,” John said on Twitter.
“We have lost so many great artists lately. I give Justin thumbs up for realizing it was time to call it,” he added.
