‘Catch me outside’ girl suing video game company for using her catchphrase

Danielle Bregoli, or more popularly known as the snarky, foul-mouthed “Catch Me Outside” teenage girl from Dr. Phil, went from virtually unknown to an internet sensation overnight.
The spunky 14-year-old has since become a visible figure online, and has attracted some sort of cult following for her aggressive and unapologetic attitude.
Her “Cash Me Outside” and “How Bout Dat” catchphrases continue to be the subject of memes to this day, but Bregoli is now taking legal action against a video game company that’s been using her popularized tagline without her consent.
According to The New York Post, Bregoli and her mother Barbara Ann are suing Anonymous Games Inc.—its former and current owners Josiah Jenkins and Matthew Gruettner, respectively—as well as Appnoxious LLC and Squad Social LLC for monetizing her catchphrase through the “Cash Me Outside” app.
Apart from imitating Bregoli’s voice while uttering her signature phrases, the game also features an avatar who eerily resembles the teen.
The mother and daughter duo are seeking at least $1 million in damages from the suit and are demanding to receive all gross revenue directly or indirectly from the game, the report said.
As of this writing, Anonymous Inc. has since changed the name of the game to “Get Cash Outside” and has removed all traces of Bregoli’s catchphrase and avatar. Khristian Ibarrola/JB
