Jimmy Bondoc defends friend’s slain father, slams drug-related report

Singer-composer and staunch administration supporter Jimmy Bondoc took to social media to defend the family of his friend and co-singer, whose father was killed by two motorcycle-riding gunmen last Wednesday in what the police said was a drug-related incident.

Bondoc said the death of Eleazar Sarvida, father of band singer TJ Sarvida, was not related to illegal drugs. He said the older Sarvida was shot by an unidentified criminal who was supposedly escaping from a police operation after being barred from entering the Sarvida residence to hide.

WALA,” he added.

(This is a very sad and abominable incident and it has nothing to do with drugs, the drug war, or TJ’s support for the President. NOTHING.)

Mandaluyong police said the 61-year-old Sarvida was on the watch list of the city police intelligence unit, which had also received information from barangay that Sarvida’s wife was also allegedly into drugs.

Sarvida was shot in the face by one of the two gunmen in front of his gate just a few minutes after his alleged runner or drug courier was also killed.

But Bondoc, a vocal supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, dismissed the Inquirer report of the incident that merely cited information from Mandaluyong police as a “lie.” YG/JE
